"Marine Sunrise" Ernest Principato ("Prince") Home About The School About This Web Site Contact us Links To Teacher/Artists Links To Student/Artist Other Links ABOUT ME AND THIS WEB SITE All my life I wanted to paint and draw but my career got in the way and so in my late fifties, I started taking drawing and painting classes at the Rhodes Island School of Design's Continuing Education division. I had always enjoyed Impressionist paintings and I had a "picture" in my mind of how I wanted to paint. And then one day I picked up a copy of "Color Magazine" at the RISD book store and "voila", there it was, Lois's article. And I knew I wanted to paint that way. The next Saturday morning I went down to the RISD library and read "Hawthorne On Painting" and I was hooked. That following summer, I looked into attending the "Cape Cod School Of Art" school and to my disappointment found there were not going to be any classes that year. As it turned out, it was the end of the school, or so I thought. After a couple years of waiting for the school to open again, I began "googling" for the "Cape Cod School Of Art" and discovered Ernest Principato ("Prince") who had been a student of Henry's and who was teaching classes/workshops in and around North Kingstown RI. I have been studying with Prince every since. If I were to hit the Power Ball tomorrow, my first goal would be to re-open the school and my second would be to open a museum/gallery dedicated to the art of the school. Until that happens, however, this web site will have to suffice. Initially, my goal is to provide a single web site where anyone can find information about; the "Cape Cod School Of Art", the artists who continue the teachings of Charles, Henry, and Lois, and a list of artists who have either studied at the school or with one of these artists. In addition, I would like to create an on-line gallery of the works of these teachers and students and I will be contacting each of them to get their permission to use some of their images. I welcome your thoughts/ideas so don't hesitate to Contact us. Date Last edited 01/28/2007
